Yeah, you are right. Most of the time I don't try to tell the difference, too much trouble when almost all the time I see them they are not in breeding plumage.

From yesterday, a good number of finches for inland lower peninsula Michigan! Almost 50 White-winged Crossbills, while nothing compared to the numbers being seen at standard migration watches on the coast of the great lakes, was still pretty exciting, a personal high count for me. Hope some of them come further south this winter.
