What did you think of Wakadahatchee? How many lifers are you up to now? The first time I came to Florida to visit I was amazed and a bit saddened that there were so many birds here I had already seen in Colorado. Some were rare in Colorado but others common. Example I'd seen a Yellow-crowned Night Heron once in Colorado so no lifer for Florida. Then Loggerhead Shrike common both places except only in the summer in Colorado. Year round in Florida. My Colorado list 365 when we moved. My Florida list now 332. Total 697 yet My total life list 483. Almost all the difference is because of species found in both States.

I liked green cay a bit better, it was a longer walk less crowded, and i just saw more birds there. I did love wakodahatchee too. I’m at 26 lifers this trip. I’m leaving Wednesday afternoon.

Did you try for the Tropical Kingbird being reported in Palm Beach County? I wish I lived closer. I would like to see that one. It is a 4 1/2 hour drive though so it would make it an overnight trip for us.

There was not a lot of nesting at Green Cay visible. The other times we have been down that way Wakada was closed or we were chasing something elsewhere.

The only times I had time to bird I figured to try the two great places close to where I’m staying. 1 hour ago, Clip said: I have only been to Wakadahatchee once and it was nesting season (March) which is probably why I liked it better. Some times it more about knowing where to look. They are abundant in Florida but you still have to know where to look because they are not everywhere even in Florida. Congrats on the lifer! They've been in the same corner of a pond in an Augusta park for a few weeks. I hadn't been there in over a year and was looking for any excuse; a Culex mosquito would have been sufficient.

You may not be able to bird bird but you never know what you may find even on the sides of the highways/roads around here. Wood Storks can be seen right from highway for example. I do this a lot by the way bird by car. I'm not usually driving.
IKLland
My last checklist for this trip, perhaps my favorite. Got INSANE looks at the Nanday parakeets, they were checking out some cavities in a palm tree, in great lighting. I got some great shots of them! I FINALLY got my lifer limpkin as well! They were a tad too far away, and there was a gator in the same pond, so I wasn’t up to getting any closer. https://ebird.org/checklist/S99270681
