My other travels took me back around close enough I tried again. High count for the county for eBird of 203 Lapland Longspur. Probably more that were out of the frame of the photo I chose to count. One of my other pics have have shown more also, but who want to count over and over again. https://ebird.org/checklist/S101208067 Man! That makes the count of 6-8 I had earlier today look pitiful.

Quiscalus quiscula
Winter birding here is sad...Can't really get more than 5 species on a checklist, and I've given up trying.

Birding Boy
Yesterday me and another dude found a bunch of redpolls at a park quite close to me. He had a Hoary, but they all flew before I could get on them. Today I went back and found it, and what I think is another one. Great birds for my county! https://ebird.org/checklist/S101363800

It’s awesome! Two irruption winters in a row? I’m getting spoiled. But this is nuts, a huge flock only 10-15 minutes from my house is pretty great.

Birding Boy
Got some birding in before the 1-2 feet of snow we’re supposed to get tomorrow-Thursday. Biggest list I’ve ever had in my county during the winter. Almost got to 50sp. https://ebird.org/checklist/S101848390

Was a super fun outing, can't wait to try an all day thing in peak migration in May. Who knows, if I can get 48 species in the "Dead of winter" maybe 100 sp will be possible? 16 hours ago, IKLland said: Man, nice list! Great shots too! This place is awesome for passerine photography! Photography wasn't really my objective at the time, I was mainly trying to find more birds, but I should go another day and try to get more sparrow shots and stuff. 19 hours ago, Quiscalus quiscula said: I would've gotten 14 lifers... Which ones? Mainly waterfowl? I'm sure you'll get all of these come spring.

Yeah, mainly waterfowl, but also the Red-headed Woodpecker and my nemesis Eastern Towhee, and somehow I haven't gotten a Swamp Sparrow yet. I think the woodpecker and Swans will be the toughest in your area. We get barely any all year that come through VT.
