Yeah I don't know what it was doing in my yard, I don't normally have them, but I have had a few.

I guess it was migrating, and just got downed in a rain storm we had got the night before, but who knows.

How do you do NFC’s? I’m thinking about trying it.

I have special equipment for it, though as long as you have a someone decent mic, you could attempt doing one. Normally my recordings are much stronger then they were last night, I can only think of three reasons for why the quality was so low. Either something happened to the microphone setup over the winter, or the few birds that were recorded were already far away, which they might be in spring migration due to my location being on the north face of a Ridgeline. If you want to get into NFCs, I would wait a little bit before starting to record as it's pretty early in the season (I only detected 6 birds last night). If you do want to record, get a 5 or 10 gallon plastic bucket (I'm sure you might be able to find one for free somewhere even if you don't have one), and stick a microphone in there. It needs to be attached to something to record with. I have mine plugged into my laptop and record directly into audacity. From there I export the recordings into vesper, which is a program made specifically for NFCs which finds and sorts your recordings from a long night. If you are actually interested, PM me and I can give you some more info.

I'm new here, so I'd like to share a list from March 30. A yellow-footed gull (second record sighting in the state) had been seen at Lake Mead near Las Vegas, NV, and I had to go there several times before I finally saw it.

Welcome @Zoroark! That's a nice bird, when y'all have had enough of it, please send it to Texas!

@Corey have you seen the Yellow-footed Gull too?

Ask a restaurant, often times they will save them up for you, and let you have them, but if you only need one they might just have it. You will probably want to wash it out with some bleach of course, most the ones we get have had dilled pickles in them.
