Zoroark
I saw some rarities mentioned on the rare bird alert, so I visited a nearby park in the evening. Got a FOY Bronzed Cowbird out of it, but surprisingly not the first time I've seen it in the county. No Clay-colored Sparrow nor any nightjars, though. https://ebird.org/checklist/S108976045 Edited May 5, 2022 by Zoroark Accidentally shared the hotspot instead of the list

dragon49
Was basically an average day in the "hood," but I got excited to see an RSH at the end, as I don't see top many raptors in the area. It must have been after something, as I saw the bird swoop into a tree that normally wouldn't be comfortable to perch in. It stayed for less than a minute, didn't scare off a Fish Crow, then swooped into a nearby tree of the same kind. I couldn't get any decent pics though and I don't feel like uploading something that I'd normally rate a 2. https://ebird.org/checklist/S109006408 Edited May 5, 2022 by dragon49

Zoroark
Another visit to Corn Creek, this time with my mother. It's tedious to get to during rush hour, but it's one of the best places in the valley to visit during migration. Two FOYs: Yellow-breasted Chat and Lewis's Woodpecker. The second list is a brief stop on the road to Corn Creek in an attempt to find a LeConte's Thrasher; no dice, though. https://ebird.org/checklist/S109063106 https://ebird.org/checklist/S109055816 Edited May 6, 2022 by Zoroark
Aidan B
Very fun day today, though there were wayyy to many empids around to be comfortable. (I keep looking for that darn Dusky Flycatcher, but they're all either Hammond's, or I have to leave it as a spuh). Empids are such a pain to photograph. I did end up finding a Hairy Woodpecker though, which is an incredibly difficult bird for Sacramento. (Around five to ten county records that I am aware of). https://ebird.org/checklist/S109052114

Aidan B
Just now, IKLland said: YBCH is rare by you? Ehh, kinda. They don't breed in the county anymore (Not really much good habitat left). But they do breed in the foothills about five miles away from the county line. They don't really migrate through the county in high numbers either. I'll typically find a couple a year in Sac, but they're not not really expected anywhere. This bird was just five minutes from my house and I figured I might as well go see it.

In certain parts of the Central Valley and the foothills you can see good number, but costally they’re pretty rare. I only have seen 3 for Marin County. What’s odd is they become pretty common breeders along the coast another 150 miles or so north. 1

dragon49
Any weekend day spent outside is better than staying home and watching sports. It was also a good trip. Not a lot of species for this hotspot, but I've developed a bad habit of sleeping too late on Saturdays. I'm sure an earlier walk would have yielded more species.  Normal South Florida weather for the season. I timed the ride to have enough time to beat the rain, but of course it started raining as soon as I showed up. Most of the trip was dry though. I ignored multiple weather app alerts notifying me the closest lightning strike was less than ten miles away and kept about my business.  My eyes are getting sharper for birding, as last year this time I would have missed the Black-crowned Night-Heron where it was standing: https://ebird.org/checklist/S109228558

Charlie Spencer
Pleasant couple of hours at Lee State Park (SC) en route to the race at Darlington.  Nothing special but the YTWA was my first in a few years. https://ebird.org/checklist/S109323967 Birding at the track itself is usually good for eight or ten species. Today I had only four.  Too cool and windy.  The GCFL was a first for this spot for me. Edited May 8, 2022 by Charlie Spencer
