Birding Boy
Been wanting to do this for a long time. Spent all day at Tawas Point State Park yesterday, one of the top birding spots in Michigan. Watched migration off the point for a couple hours and found some pretty unusual stuff, and then milled around the park for the rest of the day. More photos to come eventually! https://ebird.org/checklist/S109835196
Zoroark
Another visit to Corn Creek, another FOY (Summer Tanager). Nothing else too crazy today, although the Lewis's Woodpecker was quite active. https://ebird.org/checklist/S109951199 https://ebird.org/checklist/S109951351 Â

Several I've seen that lack decent photos, too.

dragon49
The original plan was to take an ocean view walk to get some shorebird lifers, but there was nowhere to park, so I headed to a hotspot I haven't visited in a long time. The timing worked out perfectly as I got my 21st lifer of the year, a Least Bittern. With my reported 350 Wood Storks, this set my record for the most reported birds on a checklist.  This place is a shorter walk than the hotspot I normally frequent, but it has a different character and I'll be back. It was a great day! https://ebird.org/checklist/S110070084

Aaron
This I think now is my highest species count yet. Over 70 would have been possible, but missed a few common species, but the amount of new birds and not so common birds was crazy. Was finally able to add Mountain bluebird to the hotspot, and also got to add bank swallows and my lifer surf scoter. https://ebird.org/checklist/S110499061
dragon49
It was a normal walk in the neighborhood. I did get excited to see the RSHA at the end of the trip. I enjoy sharing non-vulture raptor pictures, but everything I took was out of focus. I also make a point of sharing pics when Ebird Mobile tells me the species is "uncommon" for the area, but as I've shared enough RSHA pics from this hotspot, that I think the county reviewers believe me. ? https://ebird.org/checklist/S110662863 Edited May 19, 2022 by dragon49
Aidan B
Chased the Little Gull yesterday! Really glad I managed to get this bird, I was worried it would leave before I could get over to Point Reyes. https://ebird.org/checklist/S110883917

Zoroark
I went back to the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and it was pretty quiet today. Several of the ponds were low. I did manage two FOYs: Red-necked Phalarope and Olive-sided Flycatcher. @Aidan B's 1,000 RNPH puts my 2 to shame, though. ? I also stopped by a nearby wetland area and got distracted by a singing Lucy's Warbler. https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S110907086 https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S110910896

dragon49
Was a good day. I saw a lifer with 100% certainty, but couldn't get a pic, and so far, no ID here: Not the end of the world, but I am kicking myself a little for not having had the patience to wait around longer for a photo ID. The problem was that the two birds were already navigating away from me when I noticed them, and the weeds were so high, and there was a large tree obstruction the way they were angling, so lots of patience may not have paid off anyway. I've been looking at pictures of not just South Florida Birds, but all Florida birds, and nothing comes close to what I saw, so I'm more upset that I missed the opportunity to report a rarity or a migrant, and possibly be the first to report it. I'll back at that hotspot many more times. https://ebird.org/checklist/S110984044
Zoroark
I woke up this morning, ate breakfast, and then checked my e-mails to see the rare bird alert. A quick check of the weather report told me I was not staying home and instead had to visit Corn Creek. 2 lifers, 3 photographic lifers, 8 FOY, and 5 new in Clark County). https://ebird.org/checklist/S111024646 Firsts of the year: White-throated Swift (photographic lifer) Willow Flycather (lifer + photo) Orchard Oriole Hooded Oriole American Redstart Northern Parula Rose-breasted Grosbeak Dickcissel (lifer + photo) Five new for Clark County: Willow Flycatcher Orchard Oriole Scott's Oriole American Redstart Dickcissel
dragon49
Any checklist with a lifer (Gray Kingbird) is a great day! It was also good to hear a Red-winged Blackbird. They had disappeared from the area for months.  https://ebird.org/checklist/S111076239

dragon49
Was a good day. I heard the high-decibel screeching of the Nanday Parakeets, but they were too far away and behind at least one building, so no photo opportunities today. It was a first for me, as I've never before seen an Anhinga on a wire. Not too may "buzzards" around these days, so it was good to see the Black Vulture and Turkey Vulture flyovers: https://ebird.org/checklist/S111165434
