I'll pay more attention when speaking, so I actually sound like a birder. ? There are many more Mottled Ducks in my area than Limpkins, but the lakes and canals produce enough apple snails to keep some around. Yep, Grebe should be pronounced "greeb" actually. I pronounced it wrong for several months myself!

I looked it up and I THINK it's the right way. EDIT- I think you misunderstood me, "greeb" is the right way, and I pronounced it wrongly as "grayb" for several months. dragon49
Two checklists today: Boring, but well worth the time to get the Carolina Wren photo lifer: I normally only post high-quality pictures of Red-shouldered Hawks, but this one was a photo lifer for the hotspot, so I had to add some of what I had. https://ebird.org/checklist/S120705148 Any checklist with two lifers (Blue Grosbeak and House Wren) is an awesome checklist! https://ebird.org/checklist/S120711257

Zoroark
We just had our fall garage sale, which meant a lot of sitting around in front of the house again for two days. On Saturday, I had a friend over, so we chatted a lot and had music going while plenty of people shopped. However, today it was just me and only five customers showed up all morning, so I could watch and listen to a huge variety of birds. dragon49
Two checklists today: This was the most species I've reported on this short boardwalk trail. I'm getting to know the path better, and I did spend a lot of time here, walking it 3 or 4 times. I normally do not upload so many bad pictures, but I don't have too many photo lifers for this hotspot, and like to keep a few photo memories of all hotspot species I find: https://ebird.org/checklist/S120771934 Good day at the hotspot: https://ebird.org/checklist/S120784897
Quiscalus quiscula
https://ebird.org/checklist/S120806317 Slightly late TEWA, checklist with few species but I can't exactly make birds appear. Species count goes down here this time of year.

dragon49
Good day in the neighborhood. If I wasn't so obsessed with taking pictures, I could have walked farther with my allotted time and spotted more species. https://ebird.org/checklist/S120889042 Edited October 18, 2022 by dragon49

dragon49
Two checklists today: https://ebird.org/checklist/S121006578 - The boardwalk has been slow for me, except for early in the A.M. https://ebird.org/checklist/S121011318 - A lot of species for the shot distance and relatively short walk, and most importantly, 2 lifers, The Eastern Phoebe and Indigo Bunting. The White-eyed Vireo was a hotspot lifer.
dragon49
Good day in the neighborhood. I could have walked further and gotten more species, but I used a lof of my allotted time looking for warblers in some of the trees: https://ebird.org/checklist/S121050571 Edited October 21, 2022 by dragon49

dragon49
This place can be boring, but it has potential, so I'll keep going back: https://ebird.org/checklist/S121097194 Incredible trip! This is the most species I've reported on a checklist, and I got a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker lifer. In addition, I got a great photo of a recent lifer, Eastern Phoebe. My only other photo of the species from that lifer checklist is badly out of focus. Edit - I also got my best photo of a Sora. My only other photo is pretty bad. https://ebird.org/checklist/S121113600 Edited October 22, 2022 by dragon49

Aidan B
Did a LOT of birding yesterday! Started with owling than did the mountains, oak woodland, and waterfowl. So many Pygmy-owls! Long-eared Owl was by far the best bird of the day! https://ebird.org/tripreport/81411 Edited October 23, 2022 by Aidan B
dragon49
Incredible checklist, as I got 4 lifers, including the Mega-Rare Red-legged Honeycreeper. The other lifers were the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Summer Tanager, and Tennessee Warbler. See the checklist notes for more derails. https://ebird.org/checklist/S121171306 Pretty boring, but I know this place has a lot more to offer. I need to go back with some birders who know the place well: https://ebird.org/checklist/S121178053 Edited October 23, 2022 by dragon49

dragon49
Good day in the neighborhood. While I'm still spending a lot of time looking for warblers in trees and bushes, my checklists from this hotspot are going to have fewer species than they normally would have had. Had I taken another 10 minutes to walk the next section of the canal, I'm certain I could have observed some more of the common species here, such as Anhinga, Great Egret, Green Heron, and Little Blue Heron. https://ebird.org/checklist/S121243871 Edited October 24, 2022 by dragon49
