Illinois (All photos are the same bird)
Hello, I was wondering which kind of chickadee this was because I'm having trouble telling the difference between black-capped and carolina.

If my memory serves me right this is how it stands:

If you are in the northern part of the state it is a pure Black-capped, if in the southern half there hybrid birds.

Photo #3 shows more white on the wings that I would expect for a Carolina.  If you saw this bird in the northern part of the state, I agree with Kevin that it's a Black-capped.

Ah ok. These were taken in Peoria, IL so I'm not sure if that's far north enough or not for Black-capped.
