Connor Cochrane
Any photos where we can see it's back? Just want to make sure it isn't red, or altivangis slate colored. Looks like a sooty to me. I can get the exact subspecies if there is any other angles or better lighting. Connor Cochrane
This looks fine for Sooty. There doesn't appear to be streaking on the back. Weak malar stripe and overall ruddy appearance, large bill, and bibbed appearance makes me think insularis Sooty Fox Sparrow
Connor Cochrane
Not my photo, but here is an example of one. This is a heavily marked one. Your bird looks fine for this subspecies. My problem is there is no streaking on the back, and the auricular patch looks off. I could be wrong though.
The Bird Nuts
I don't think the face pattern is distinct enough for a Red Fox Sparrow. Not that I know much about subspecies, but it just doesn't look like the ones we get here in the northeast.

As well as the field marks listed above, I see no white anywhere on the wing.

Charlie Spencer
I guess I'm the only one who can't see BirdNrd's photos at all, just placeholder icons. I can see Connor's comparison photo.

MichaelLong
I agree that it is not a red, a red has a much more defined facial pattern and streaking on the back, I agree with Connor on insularis Sooty
