Juvenile Dunlin?

Recommended Posts

Calidris alpina hudsonia, the subspecies of Dunlin that breeds across arctic Canada molts before migrating, thus seeing Dunlins in full juvenile plumage in the Lower 48 is somewhat rare. This is also why Dunlin is such a late-fall migrant.

Your bird, while wearing some juvenile plumage, is not a juvenile, as it has initiated its preformative molt and is now best termed an immature (see here).
