So was out birding today and met my first actual ebirder in the field! Not sure if this is crazy or not, but it’s actually never happened to me.
I am weird to post this?

I'm surprised it's taken that long. During the fall I run into people almost every time go out, but that's usually because I'm chasing vagrants / going to popular spots. However, even in the offseason I run into people, and often in random locations.

Okay, what part do you consider crazy, randomly running into another birder, or that he / she was on eBird?

Whether I run into other birders depends on the popularity of the location.

Yeah, I've run into many eBirders, and it's usually when I'm chasing rare birds (one reason I don't chase birds often).  Then again, Vermont "leads the nation with the highest percentage of residents participating in bird watching away from home," according to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department.

Happy birthday man! At least you got something epic to look forward to this weekend!

Thanks! I kinda already got a gift because I saw a Yellow-green Vireo a couple days ago! I was gonna go up north to see a Lesser Sand-Plover but it left so sadly I don't know where to go yet. Fingers crossed something shows up soon!

I’ve got come cool stories about running into people while birding. Just this summer I was trying to hit a boreal grand slam (BOCH, CAJA, SPGR, BBWO) in one day in Northeastern VT, and I was on a class 4 road (it is a hotspot, but still). This area of VT has towns with 0 residents. Literally the middle of nowhere. I was about halfway down the logging road when I see a truck coming down the road. I step to the side and it’s a guy I did a CBC with and another I had only met online! And they weren’t even there for birds! Got some cool dragonfly experience with them that day.

😊 yet another reason I love Vermont

I've got a kinda exciting possible plan for this next spring. School is over with the first week of May, which leaves a good chunk of the month open for birding. I'm thinking of camping out at Tawas Pt. State Park, which is one of the best places to observe passerine migration in Michigan, but I'll have to do some research into how that works. If it doesn't, then there's some family property a half hour's drive away I could use. I can't imagine listening to NFC's, and the vismig has got to be insane, and the rarity potential is pretty good. Probably a little early to be looking into next migration, but hey, something I've been wanting to do for a good while.
