December, Christmas, it is supposed to start feeling like winter, right?

Up the road in Greenville, SC, 79F was a new record for the date, a full five degrees above the previous record.  (I'll let y'all do the math; home schoolers, it counts.)

Currently 46F here in central SC, forecast for 77F.  DNR has organized a trash pick-up at a local hotspot at 10; I'm going over early and see if the ducks have arrived yet.

It was 72F in Penticton, Canada on Wednesday, which is definitely a record high. Tail-end of a storm that has places just west of there underwater, they just had a pleasant spring day.

Says the guy from tropical SC?

Sez the guy with decades of camping and military field experience.  There are plenty of ways to get cleaned up in the morning beside total immersion.  Sponge bath in the sink, pot of water warmed over the campfire, judicious use of baby wipes, etc.  None of those involve freezing my giblets off.  Anyone jumping in with the penguins is either showing off or ignorant.

I never said I would do it ? I'm famous for not even jumping in the pond till it nears 100F. The worst I have done was taking a cold shower in near freezing weather at about 12k feet up the Andes - and I probably held out for a week before I did that.
