10/28 in Portland, OR. I had to crop these photos wayyy down. Any hope in identifying these ducks? Will probably have to put them down as Greater/Lesser Scaups...

Also, why does the one in the middle look like it has a long tail?

Also, how do I keep my images from looking so tiny after I crop them?

I think you'll have to settle for Greater / Lesser.  I think what you're seeing in the second picture is something behind that duck, possible another duck diving or surfacing.

Quite a few definite Greaters, no definite Lessers that I can find, though there is a candidate or two. IDing sleeping scaup is often much easier than IDing swimming scaup, as their head plumage is relaxed, allowing the "true" shape to shine through. Sibley's illustration is bang on.
