Look for them when it snows on roads and in parking lots. How do you approach birds? I've kind of figured out over the years that gradual can be our friend. So let's say you spot a bird from a distance. Photograph from there. This does two things you get the photo even if it isn't good but you also get the bird use to you pointing a camera at it. Move in closer slowly, photograph again. Move a little closer...If you go right for close shots chances are they will flush but if you take the gradual approach your chances are better that they will stay. I use the method all the time no matter the bird species. Does this work 100 percent of the time no but it works better than trying to get close right off the bat. It also sometimes helps not to look directly at the bird as you move closer.

Perhaps when in rains is a good time too. I know I saw a bunch out on the road this day.

Seanbirds
How about we do Blue-footed Hawk-Finch? I understand they’re very rare in the ABA area, but certainly someone has a photo! Anyone seen one?

IKLland
Alright, I’m lucky I’ve actually seen one here in SoCal, but the photo is horrible.
Connor Cochrane
Which one of my thirty very mediocre photos should I post? I'll have to look through my memory card from my trip to Florida to see if the photos I got were an upgrade, but I don't think they were.
