I just use the search function on the main site and then try to match the picture.

I think I used:

Location Common: California

Bill Length: About the Same as Head

Color Secondary: Blue

Those answers gave me a list of five birds and the BBM looked closest.

I'm just starting out in birding.

That's OK. I still do that sometimes. :classic_laugh: It's a learning experience. Keep trying to identify birds! You will get better each time.

Black-billed Magpies only live east of the Sierras or North of Lassen in California.
