davgrant4 0
Looks like a young male Vermilion Flycatcher and a Say's Phoebe? I saw this unusual bird at Sante Fe Dam in Irwindale CA. They have been reported there. One report on ebird had a picture of female Vermilion Flycatcher and it looked just like a Say's Phoebe. is it possible this is a female VF? Corey 467
If the second bird is a vermilion flycatcher, I've never seen one like it. 🙂 Both birds are common in my area. I'd say it's a vermilion flycatcher and a Say's phoebe.

AlexHenry 1,268
Agreed, 1 = Vermillion Flycatch, 2 = Say’s Phoebe Female Vermilion Flycatchers are smaller than Say’s Phoebes with paler underparts and more of a face pattern. DLecy 300
You are correct on both IDs. Female-plumaged Vermilion Flycatchers have pale yellow or salmon colored belies and undertail coverts, and soft gray streaking on the breast, whitish supercilium and brownish ear coverts contrasting with white below on the face.
bo nelson 54
First is Vermillion Flycatcher and second is a Say's Phoebe. We have at least 4 Vermillion Flycatchers in our work parking lot facing the wash in Tucson and we have a Say's Phoebe that shows up every NIGHT to our lighted carport to mop up the bugs. I spend a small portion of most days flagging incorrectly identified subjects of photos submitted to eBird. If I run across a bird mistaken for VEFL, it is nearly always a SAPH.
