Miss Marge
Some sort of Hybrid? Any idea? Taken in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada today.
Aidan B
Looks like a domestic mallard.

The Bird Nuts
Interesting bird. It doesn't look like any old domestic Mallard to me. It seems quite small and thin, the bill is blue, and I've never seen that coloration before. I would guess that it's a hybrid, but I dunno...
IKLland
it even kind of looks like a male cinnamon teal on the front half.....
Charlie Spencer
That is one Goth bird.

Do you also see the cinnamon teal front, which I am seeing right now? do immature male cinnamon teals look like this??
von Humboldt
The bill looks like a cross between a redhead or Scaup and a cinnamon teal due to color and the lumpy shape . The plumage and shape could also be said to look like a hybrid of those ducks. Of course, the hybridization of those two ducks must be extremely rare. I don't think it's a domestic mounted. I guess we will need to wait for Tony Luekering to tell us or at least give the most educated guess.

I was hoping for more insights into the pedigree of this bird but maybe the "back story" is too complex. Cinnamon typically hybridizes with other Teal and Shoveler but the aythya style bill got me interested (plus it is a relatively local bird). In other words "bump". Pigeon
That blue, or Andalusian, coloring is quite common in domestic ducks, chickens and pigeons. In its unrefined state there is an undesirable bronzing effect in show birds. Example... https://www.google.com/search?q=swedish+blue+duck+with+bronze+front&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiB3eSkq_TtAhUSBKwKHVXRCLUQ2-cCegQIABAC&oq=swedish+blue+duck+with+bronze+front&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQAzoECCMQJzoFCCEQqwI6BQgAEM0COgQIHhAKUNPXAVikhwJgs40CaAFwAHgAgAGLAYgBiQqSAQM2LjaYAQCgAQHAAQE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=5rrrX4HSBJKIsAXVoqOoCw&bih=800&biw=1280&client=tablet-android-samsung-nf-rev1#imgrc=dmSmfjRr_esYmM As far as shape and size, domestic mallards are a cornucopia. 2
Aaron
Looking at the hotspot, majority list it as domestic type, with a few as duck sp. Other photos show that it is very chunky looking, and this checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S77898632 Labels it as a mallard x Muscovy hybrid. Then by looking through those photos: https://ebird.org/media/catalog?taxonCode=mdxmal1&sort=rating_rank_desc&mediaType=p®ionCode= Seems to be a pretty close match to a few of them, both for the red, silver, and the bill colour.

I don't think this bird is worth looking into further. It's clearly a farm/domestic/creature duck. Cool looking, but not a sexy wild hybrid of any sorts. RobinHood
Ran out of reactions once again but as well as @Pigeon thanks to @Aaron, and @DLecy also for allowing me to let this thread go, much appreciated.
The Bird Nuts
Thanks @Aaron for those links. The domestic Muscovy in there explains the coloration I didn't recognize.
Aaron
It’s a very cool looking bird. I was curious as what it was too, as if I ever somehow get to own some ducks that’d be the colour I would want them to be. Though, I much prefer chickens!
