I do have a small notepad and pen in the car at all times, for those occasions when I left my phone at home or work.  I have to use it a few times a year.

i mean i might try recording then adding to ebird whewen i get home. I usually just use ebird when i am in the field.

EBird is a much better option in my opinion. It tracks your route, it’s easier to tally birds, and the filters are useful to know if you need to document a bird.

I never have my data on and it still tracks my location 🤔. I thought it only used your phones GPS

Yes, that is why I usually do that

It's a lot easier to record gender and age on paper than on the eBird app.  Write M's and F's beside the species code, and enter the counts when you get home.
