Actually they were quite a distance away, and I spotted them as I was driving over a creek. I'd say 60+ yards away, and I was in my car so I couldn't hear them. I had recently bought a Canon 400mm lens for my camera and was able to reach out and get the shots. Needless to say, I was quite happy with the results at that distance!

Not to disagree with you but these were I.D. on this forum as Common.  Range Map shows both in Texas. I have multiple photos of both so no worries, just want to be correct.
