Dan P
Taken 2021-01-15 at dusk above the Hyperion Ave bridge over Los Angeles River, Atwater Village, CA. Would this be a White-faced Ibis?

The photo was obviously taken in low, warm light, making the whole head look red.

If you want to be conservative then leaving it unidentified is probably best, but I think most CA birders would make the assumption that it’s White-faced (not saying that’s the right thing to do, best practice would probably be to leave unidentified, but it’s a pretty safe assumption to make)
Dan P
So would "Plegadis sp." be the proper way to report it?

There is ONE Glossy Ibis record for the entire greater LA area, and ZERO records of GLIB x WFIB. It's a White-faced. 29 minutes ago, Dan P said: So would "Plegadis sp." be the proper way to report it? You are pretty darn safe calling it a White-faced Ibis.
