I know right. I can’t tell if there’s a shoulder spur or not, and that bill looks intermediate...

IMO a Hairy. I can’t say I have ever seen one without any color on the back of the head though. We have Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers at our home in AL. The Downy usually has a single spot on the back of the head and a Hairy has two with the bar in between.  Also, the Hairy bill is as long as the length/width of the head. A downy bill is shorter than the length/width of the head. That’s how I tell them apart.
