Clip
I mentioned the first two Wilson's Snipe photos in Best or Favorite but didn't post them there so I thought I'd post them here. Along with a couple of other favorites.
lonestranger
The female Rose-breasted Grosbeaks seem to be dominating the feeders lately. This one successfully chased off the Northern Cardinal, and firmly held her ground when the bigger and noisier Red-bellied Woodpecker flew in a few seconds later.

lonestranger
I was going through my photos and noticed something odd about this Rose-breasted Grosbeak shot from a few weeks ago. Can anyone help me understand why I am seeing green show through where I should be seeing tail? I see white tail feather tips but instead of those feathers turning black further up the shaft, they're green as if the rest of the feather isn't even there and the background is showing through. There's no photoshop type editing, but it looks like maybe there should be. Did the camera get it wrong, or is there an explanation for the green in the tail that I am missing? I've included the original, unedited photo below. Clicking on the photo will take you to Flickr where clicking on the photo a few more times will fully enlarge it.

That's a lot of reflection for being about 4 feet away from any reflective grass below. Thanks for your thoughts though.
