Sometimes I just want friends to see a bird I photographed, no rules.

The wake of the storm today gave me incredibly variable conditions and tremendous wind (and I live in the shadow of the Santa Cruz mountains which blocks much of the wind). These two photos were taken within 15 seconds of one another but one was shot in cloudy conditions with scatted rain and the other shot in almost full sun.

I've been trying to get some better Brown Creeper shots this winter and finally caught one in the setting sun. I liked this first one the most but I'm disappointed that the head is turned. Does it still work with the head turned? Would love some feedback!

I like the first photo the most. I think it works with the head turned, but might be rated lower on ebird, because in terms of identifying the bird, the head not turned would be more helpful. I really like it though.

Thanks for the feedback. That was my thinking as well.

My ebird county doesn't rate much and the ratings are very inconsistent, so it's hard to figure out what is actually a decent photo so that I can continue to improve. Thanks for the help!

Just a couple Ring-billed from today. I'm still getting to know the Canon EOS R7 & have to say I'm pretty impressed with the eye detect & subject tracking. Getting decent flight shots was pretty difficult with my old 90D. Seems like I'm going to get a lot more keepers with the new camera.

Got a better view today than when I took this picture but was wondering how many of you have seen a house finch with yellow or orange coloration.

they’re fairly common variants, I’ve seen dozens
