cccougar
Quite the surprise on my back porch this morning to see this bird come to my feeders. Glad I had my camera at hand. Seeking confirmation that this is an immature Indigo Bunting. And note this one is banded too. Does the color of the band mean anything? Thank you. Tony Leukering
The band is a typical color band used in, usually, banding schemes permitting sight-identification of individual birds. Such usually requires two or more other color bands in addition to the regular metal USFWS band. The single white band is probably useless in determining where the bird was banded. If it sticks, please try to get photos of the other leg. It’s certainly an Indigo, however!
cccougar
Thank you Tony! I definitely will try to see the other leg for possible banding should this little beauty return.
