LanceM
Folks, Leland NC. Taken today (3/15/21). This coloring seems strange to me. The fifth photo is also from today and represents typical coloring. All photographs were taken under the same lighting conditions. I see numerous Purple Finch every day and this is a first. Thoughts? Thanks, Lance
The Bird Nuts
Immature male Purple Finch. It takes a year or two for them to get their full purple adult plumage. Before that they look like the females, so I think this guy is in mid-molt. Edited March 15, 2021 by The Bird Nuts
Charlie Spencer
Hello, Leland! I spent part of the weekend birding around Lockwood Folly and Southport. There's some terrific spots in Brunswick Co.
