Had to net this guy, put him in a jar in the fridge to get him to calm down enough to get pics.  Warmed him back up with my breath till he could fly off.  Lifer Pink Streak Moth.

Who knew a mosquito could looks so cool - Uranotaenia sapphirina.  It doesn't well in the photos, but the light joints on the legs also have the blue reflective scales.

Ditto!!! Sadly, they love me! I currently have an ankle covered in what I believe are chigger bites which also love me. It is the one thing I truly dislike about living in Florida. I had more bug bites our 1st year here than in my entire life prior living in Colorado. That is saying a lot as I am no spring chicken. Now I'm afraid to swim in public as people will probably think I have monkey pox.

I think this is a Sumac Leaf Blotch Miner Moth (what a mouthful).  3 pic stack.

original.jpg

I thought it was a little odd this bee just seemed to be hanging out underneath a Morning Glory flower.  Now I know why.

This Black-banded Owlet was a lifer.

Thanks! The advantages of shooting at 1/3000 & an 11 fps burst speed. Took like 8 shots & this was the only good one.

Weevils are so cooperative - Plum Curculio

Roundneck Sexton Beetle with a horrible mite infestation.  If you really want to be creeped out, watch the video.

I really hope someday I can find a Scorpionfly freshly deceased to take really close pics of.  Just very cool looking flies.
