Here's another non Facebook link;

I'm generally not afraid of them either. I wanted to get a Tarantula at one point but my wife ruled that one out. Something about the abdomen on these guys really creeps me out for some reason though ?.

Cool thank you! Very interesting spider. Great photos of it too. The abdomen does not creep me out for some reason. Especially, since the article explains what it is for.

Penthetria heteroptera - this has to be the blackest animal in existence.  It just sucked up all the light.

Haven't been able to ID this spider yet, but I swear the orange was glowing from the inside and not a reflection.  Just very weird look to it.  It was so small, probably 1mm or less.  I had 35mm extension tubes x 2, plus Raynox 250 dioper on the 100mm macro.

Good job with the exposure with the black fly on the white background!

Thanks.  Any luck with incandescent lights and moths?

Tried the incandescent bulb earlier this month 3 days in a row for about an hour just after dark and a couple hours early in the morning while it was still dark. We didn't attract much in the way of moths. We did manage to attract several of what looked like termites? Thankfully (I guess) most of the house is cinder block. The few moths we did get I wasn't able to get good photos of with my camera. All that zoom wasted on things that are already close. I did post below a couple of bugs that I thought were pretty cool. Both super tiny. No more than a speck on the sheet with the naked eye.

If you can try it overnight and then check early in the morning.  Of course things may be starting to slow down where you are.  They have for me.  Mine usually is on all night, just in case I get up and decide to go out and check.

Brown Wasp Mantidfly.

Really like this first shot, even if I did miss the eyes being super sharp.  I think I had the Raynox on for these so it softens the image some.

Wow Interesting looking bug. It kind of brings to mind a praying mantis with the front legs folded up in the first photo. Very cool.

Glossonotus acuminatus - not sure what is up with the two different colored eyes.

Red-femured Spotted Orbweaver - may have to tag someone cause I haven't had any of my sightings of this confirmed yet.

Some kind of Crane Fly, with a mite

The "pretty" mosquito just recently had a common name added to iNat.  Not sure if this is something new or not.  I can't find it anywhere online about it.  Now called Sapphire-striped Mosquito.
