The metadata/exif info, all that camera related stuff, is a digital note attached to the file when you take the picture. It usually stays with the file but is not always visible. As an example, a photo uploaded to Whatbird doesn't show the exif info, but the same image uploaded to Macaulay does. 2
Charlie Spencer
@PalmWarbler, the puffin and warblers are showing 3 now. The gulls are a 2. Go figure.

If you use Windows' built-in File Manager, click the View tab and then the 'Details pane' button. You'll get a windows on the right side of the screen that shows most of the metadata for the selected file. This is also a good place to assign tags to a file. Most people think you need a separate application for this, but nope.

'Go figure' - an older expression, short for 'Go ahead and try to figure out what's going on if you wish, but it will be a waste of your time.' See also 'What's up with that?' Quiscalus quiscula
How I rate photos- 5 stars- subject in clear focus, you could expect to see it on an audubon bird calendar. 4 stars- still quite good, but something is just not quite right- would have been okay if one thing would have been corrected, eg. not quite in focus, a branch over the wrong area, part of the bird cut off. 3 stars- picture is a little hard to identify, but still doable. eg. bad lighting, far away. 2 stars- Only an expert can identify this photo! The blurry blob flying away. 1 star- Where's the bird? Oh, you mean that little speck in the sky?
PalmWarbler
Definitely not 'bombing', but: Apparently this is five stars... seems more like a 3 to me. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/358600471

I wish there was an option to search / sort by most frequently rated. I value a 4 more when it's the result of seven or eight ratings, instead of one or two. Yes, and if someone would have rated the photo a 1 it would drop down to a 4, but if you rated it 2 or higher it would have still been an average of 5. Are you and QQ talking about the same junco photo? I see a ton of detail, and agree about the framing; it needs a bit more room between the tail and right edge.
