Review Bombing

The sharpness and details are great, but the image is pretty underexposed. I could see how it gets a 4.

I can see it as a four as well, it's one of those hard to rank high four star-low five star images. What I was mostly saying was that it previously had four five star ratings, than someone rated it and it dropped to a four. So some must have dropped either a two or one star rating.

It could have had two fives and two fours.

4 for me due to the lack of crisp detail.  Very cool shot!

If you click the link to the image, it has way more detail than it does displayed here on whatbird.

I'm pretty sure this photo just got review bombed, it just went from five stars to four stars, and the first four ratings were all five stars.

What Connor said, it’s underexposed, and it’s cropped too close in. I see you shot is at 400 mm. If you shot it at 300 mm and it was a tad more loosely framed, it would be a 5. Nice shot though.
edit: if you have a prime lens, you can’t avoid the problem of the framing. In that case, maybe crop in for a headshot.

Well, the image didn't embed, and when I click on the link: EEF755F9-DB46-4DCD-8AB0-37A3EC594F2F.thumb.jpeg.1024111f5575d780118111fd438a2cf5.jpeg

It brings me to a page that says:

I’m not sure what image your talking about. My last post here was this:

But...You said " I hope you don’t mind. I did nothing to the photo except bring up the exposure a tad. How’s this? This edited version to me would be a five star." And then I think you edited your message afterward.

Oh, yes, now I see. I edited that post because the photo wouldn’t load and didn’t realize you gave a like to it before I edited. Sorry.

Ok.

Here’s an edited version with the exposure changed. It could be a four of five, the exposure is better, but the framing is still poor due to the focal length. Is your lens a zoom lens or a prime lens? F9B688AE-4540-4773-AF20-0EE428C3C5B5.thumb.jpeg.bd7d6283caa09278fa3a9d33fdde00d6.jpeg

if it’s a zoom lens, you could’ve backed off to 350mm instead of 400mm and got a better framed shot. Or if it’s a prime lens, you could crop it like this: I also used the exposure here as well.

Nice! I really like the second edit! I probably need to find a better editing program, yours seems to do a much better job than mine. Here's the original photo before I had edited it any. Quite a tricky angle to edit! I should try cropping in more, like you did with the second edit.  I don't ever really do that.

Whoah! A lot of room for your choice of cropping there! If you don't mind, I might suggest cropping leaving a bit more room to the right, or a 2:3 crop ratio (You're original looks like it's 1:1) I just took a quick screenshot to show what I mean.781031558_ScreenShot2021-09-04at2_38_39PM.thumb.png.3a1796e7fdfa23f8072d4c264f26b148.png

Hope this is the appropriate topic to post in, can get a tad confusing at times haha.

Anyways, I got this YBFL shot today, and while the lighting was far from ideal, I managed to make it look ok in post processing. My question is, would you rate it a 4 or a 5? I'm not too wrapped up with this one, just happy to have finally gotten a somewhat decent shot of my favorite eastern Empid!

Sort of depends how I'm feeling that day, sort of borderline for me. I'd probably give it a five.

Nice photo!  Personally, that is a comfortable 4 for me.  The lighting and crispness are just not there.  If you brought the exposure up a bit more (while still keeping the highlights in a comfortable range, of course), I think it would become a high 4 for me.

Understandable! I was with someone, who unfortunately wasn't the type to wait around for better photo ops.

That's the worst haha.  I'd be pretty happy with this one though!
