paleobirder
My friend sent me pictures of this bird. It was photographed at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney sometime in March (I don't have an exact date). I don't believe it was in one of the exhibits. I tried the Merlin Bird ID app, but couldn't find a match. Any help would be appreciated. Edited March 29, 2021 by paleobirder
Seanbirds
I don’t think this is a wild bird.
MichaelLong
my best guess would be a immature eastern spinebill or a grey-crowned babbler
Avery
Definitely a Gray-crowned Babbler
Trevor L.
Looks like a Gray-crowned Babbler. If I had to guess, this is probably part of an exhibit. If it is a wild bird, then it seems like it would be somewhat rare for Sydney based on what the range maps I'm looking at are telling me.

Do they band wild birds like that?

In my experience, they do that only for captive birds and endangered species, and I don’t think that species is endangered.
