I am unhappy that I didn't see the difference in a Sandhill and Whooping Crane though!

If he can convince himself they're Sandhills, he doesn't feel as miserable for missing an opportunity to appreciate Whoopers for what they are.  That's a lot worse than photographing what you think are Whoopers, only to be corrected.
