Saul Panzer
Seen in Bexar County last weekend. I'm not familiar with that region so any help would be appreciated! Flycatcher by Fred Durkin, on Flickr Flycatcher2 by Fred Durkin, on Flickr
akiley
Looks like one of the Myiarchus Flycatchers.
Saul Panzer
I was thinking it might possibly be an Olive-sided, as I can't see much if any yellow on the belly.
MerMaeve
Great-Crested Flycatcher?
Liam
I agree with Myiarchus sp. Long body proportions and bill size/shape are suggestive. Ash-throated, Brown-crested, and Great Crested all occur in Bexar County and given the visible gape flange in pic 1 and the patchy plumage, I'd call this a juvie. Bill isn't quite as large as I'd expect on BCFL, but belly isn't quite as yellow as I'd expect for GCFL. However, given the quality of the photos, I don't think this would be identifiable past juv. "Great-crested" (note hyphen and lower case on the second word) would infer the crest is great. "Great Crested" on the other hand (note no hyphen so the second word is uppercase) infers the Flycatcher is great and crested. Just common name semantics Edited July 3, 2018 by Liam
