1. Chest does look buffy, but I’d like a shot from the front to confirm

Agreed, but the snake appears to be a Black Rat Snake.

Why do you say this? The snake looks better for Black Racer to me... glossier and head same width as body.

Having looked in greater depth over the differences, it looks like a racer.
