Why not just a molting male Indigo? I usually see a couple every year that look like this.

Okay so your question had me do some research. That research has concluded first that I should no longer go memory it isn't trustworthy any more:( Second this was from Logan County, CO and ebird confirmed it along with the one below as being Lazuli X Indigo Bunting.

Interesting! So melanistic.

Only thing I’ve come up with is they do have dark eyes for a short time after hatching, so these just never changed.  Second is they are “tripped out” and pupils are just massively dilated.  The first bird I have a pic of the other eye, and it is also dark.

No photo sadly, but I was surprised to see a Black-capped Variant female YBSA right after banding a regular female! It seemed that there were three different sapsuckers using the same tree to feed.

Then there is this duck...Found this one in Adams County, CO but I'm not sure what it is a mix of. Perhaps some of the folks here can help with that.

American Wigeon x Mallard would be my guess

Not with that dark bill. I think I see some Shoveler in this bird, but lemme do some research.

Looks good! Thank You! I shall get it labeled.

We had a similar duck here in Augusta in December 2019/January 2020. I'm just linking this one, since it's the most horrible photo EVAH.

This past January was another fun one. Blue-winged Teal x Northern Shoveler.

Those Shovelers sure get around!
