birdnerd18
Hi all, I was looking through some Grand Canyon road trip photos from 2018 and found a video with a mystery bird. I'm not from the Southwest so I'm not certain, but my guess is that it's a thrasher of some sort. Maybe LeConte's judging by the voice? I wasn't able to find any sound clips of thrashers that sound like this, so it might be something else entirely. This video was taken the last week of June 2018 in the extreme Northwestern corner of Arizona. It was 10:30 am. There were originally two of these birds, but one flew off before I could catch it on video. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I really appreciate any input you can offer! Thank you! P.S. It's hard to see at first, but the bird is close to the top of the tree. Also, the picture should show both birds. Aidan B
It's a Northern Mockingbird, the video definitely shows plenty of field marks. Here's a screen shot from the video.

Tony Leukering
Mockingbirds can sound like most anything, as they mimic sounds in their surroundings, hence the name.
