roadrunner in MA?

Recommended Posts

Two questions we'll see if someone will sort out at some point...
1. was it a legit sighting? Someone shared a post from a lady who claims her son saw the bird. So who knows there...

2. Are they ever kept as pets?

So in the Birding in Massachusetts group, it was shared that a roadrunner was seen in Massachusetts... was it? I don't know. IF it was, what are the chances it's wild? hmmm

This ay not be a true birder. Some people mistake quail sometimes for roadrunners here in socal, is it possible this was a bobwhite?

I think for something like that to be confirmed, there would need to be physical evidence, especially if only one person saw it, who may not be a birder.

Just today, I was watching my lifer Cerulean Warbler (a rarity in VT, with only a handful of reliable places in the state, none of which were this location) sing from the treetops, and a lady who was walking her dog stopped and asked what bird I was looking at. So I said a Cerulean Warbler, then showed her a picture. She then says, "Oh yeah, I see those all the time around here." That's when you just smile and nod, smile and nod...
