tomahawkt77
Took this in late May. I thought it was a Least Flycatcher but wasn't sure. Neither are lifers but I wanted to be sure in e-bird. No vocals. psweet
Looking for the yellow belly on a Yellow-bellied is a mistake. Almost all of our Empids (and several of our other flycatchers) will show a yellow belly in fresh plumage. The thing to look for is the distinctly yellow throat with very little contrast between the throat and the face. This guy has a distinctly yellow belly with a distinctly gray throat -- it's a Least. Yellow-bellied is also a migrant through Massachusetts, with very few summer records. Ignore that last part -- I was thinking the shot was taken recently.
