Cdizzle
Hey guys, im hoping someone can find me. I was hiking in British Columbia in July, last week of July to be exact. I hiked golden ears, and got to the mountain shelter (1500 m + height). When I woke up the next morning I was greeted by a bird. It hovered like a humming bird, and fly very fast like one..but didn’t have the beak of a humming bird. It was a sky blue colour, and white stomach. The white started right under where the stomach is, it was a circular shape. The beak was a short beak, not very thick in size , an orange colour. Ive been trying to google this bird, but haven’t had much luck! Has someone seen this bird and can help me find the type of bird it is!! Cdizzle
The California scrub jay is some what close but it wasn’t it. Doesn’t anyone know if there are short beak humming birds?
IvoryBillHope
No hummingbird in your area would be sky blue. Bluebirds hover on occasion, and other than the orange beak Mountain Bluebird matches your description.
Cdizzle
I can't seem to find a picture of a "blue bird" or a "mountain bird" that looks identical to the bird I saw.. can anyone think of any thing else?

Just to be clear, I was referring to the species "Mountain Bluebird". Just making sure there's no confusion there, try this link: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Mountain_Bluebird/id
