Connor Cochrane
W Guanacaste Province, CR. Brown-crested vs Nuttings. I'm pretty sure it's Brown-crested, bill seems long enough, just wanted to confirm.
AlexHenry
I think so but I have no experience with Nutting’s Flycatcher
DLecy
Seems good. Nutting's is smaller on average and Birds of the World states the following: "Nutting's has on average a browner face and auricular area than Brown-crested or Ash-throated flycatchers; lacks subtle grayish nuchal collar of those species, and is relatively darker yellow on belly, as is Brown-crested. Rectrix pattern of Nutting's is quite variable, spanning range of variation from superficially similar to that of Brown-crested, with broad dark stripes on inner webs of rectrices, to similar to that of Ash-throated, with abrupt, recurving, dark flares at tips (Lanyon 1961)." Compare with your bird. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/148662461 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/70452771
