Aaron
Heard this yesterday coming from an area next to a Marina with mature cedar trees. It sounds like a chipping sparrow at the beginning but then does this weird end thing that I’ve never heard before. It only called a few times, and then was gone. I did see a small bird fly away that I thought looked like it could be a junco (appeared to have black on it) but I was quite far away and it was very brief. Not even sure if it was the bird singing. Right now my only idea is an immature chipping sparrow or junco learning to sing, but I couldn’t find anything similar. Birdnet suggested both black-throated warblers so ??♂️ Thought I’d ask on here quickly just inacse it was something worth trying to find again. I didn’t hear it this morning, but I also didn’t hear it the 5 days I’ve been here before yesterday. Shuswap BC. (It is very hot here). Connor Cochrane
Bump. While this definitely sounds very sparrow-like, the spectrogram almost looks like an odd Parula. Anyone have any ideas?
Quiscalus quiscula
Chipping sparrow x song sparrow hybrid??? just joking, but I can almost hear some song sparrow quality at the end.
Avery
I could totally see this as a Junco. Here’s a weird call I heard a month or two ago: Weird deju.m4a

I forgot that interior Spotted Towhees sound so different then the ones we get on the coast. Spotted Towhee is a good guess. Also tagging @Aaron sense he hasn't posted in awhile.

Weird. When you clicked on the second one, did it say they were still processing the file? It’s fully uploaded to Macaulay now.

Aaron
Hello! Yes, DEJU was the conclusion I came too as well. Never heard a sound like it since, however.
