Share Your Best Photo of the Day

Message added by aveschapinas,

Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

I usually don't take photos of birds in flight, but I decided to try it out today.  I was on a bridge and this time of year Eagles and Ospreys will be flying down the river.  I caught this eagle and I'm very happy with this shot.

So the sensor is what tracks objects, correct then?

Haha, well my point and shoot isn’t to good for in flight according to @Aidan B( why is that btw?), so I’m half using my highest shutter speed and half practicing how fast I can move my hands!

point and shoots are know not having very good/fast autofocus and until recently no ability to use any type of manual focus. to capture good in flight you need to be able to focus quickly.

Yeah, it's the slow autofocus, not the sensor.  The size of the sensor mainly affects image quality.  When photographing birds in flight with a point-and-shoot the technique is to have the focus point on the bird at the time it focuses, not just at the time you press the shutter button halfway.
