Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

It looks like they may, but if you ever catch a photo of one you should definitely tag it as such because not much at all comes up in Macaulay Library. (And this fine fellow was technically Northwestern, if that's still a meaningful differentiation at this point.)

I bellyflopped in several inches of mucky freshwater in an attempt to get an eye level shot of a pair of Least Sandpipers, and then crawled on my elbows to get closer. (Probably should have removed my coat before doing this) I had also forgotten about the existence of leeches until one bit my stomach...anyways, I think it was worth it in the end! I got probably the best shot I’ll ever get of the species, and was treated to awesome views as they foraged and preened. 2400?__hstc=264660688.f1f7626cc713eeaaeb

I find that there's a lot more gratification in those shots that we work a little harder to get than those shots that we just settle for.  Well done. ?

Thank you! You are so right, I debated getting dirty, but boy it was worth it. Even the questioning look I got from my Mom ?

As an added bonus, I learned something new. Shorebirds have flexible beak tips, which I would guess helps them feel for and capture prey underground.

Wow!  I think I would've wimped out and used the articulating screen and live view.  Great shot!

Thanks! Woulda been tough to use live view, as there was a bunch of mucky ground leading up to the waters edge and it would have been tough to get a stable platform for the camera. Though admittedly I don’t have enough experience using live view, I need to practice more with that.
