Share Your Best Photo of the Day

Message added by aveschapinas,

Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

I use the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens.

I want to get a new lens for mine.  The Tamron I have is too heavy.  It's great on a tripod at my window, but not so much when traipsing through the woods or desert.  I read somewhere that 400mm is the "sweet spot" as far as focal length for bird pics.   Would you agree?

I would agree that 400mm is a good 'sweet spot'. Also, If your camera is a crop body (like the 7dm2) it means your actual shooting at 540, and if you throw an extender on you can get closer to 900mm. I would say the 400mm with a crop body is good enough for good photos most of the time.

Red-masked Parakeet-actually the best photo of trip to south Florida for a few days. Not a life bird as we had seen them on previous trips south. Weather thus lighting made for rough photography most of the trip.

Whenever I just want to look at some 5-star quality bird photos I do this (no kidding!):

Speaking of which, there’s a pretty awesome photographer from the area of CO I’m going to this September (kinda hope I’ll run into him while I’m birding out there ?). Check him out!

Here's a photo of an Oak Titmouse at my feeders that I just took with the R5. While I didn't think I'd have an opportunity to try the camera out for another month, I had the chance to try it out today. What I found most interesting was this was taken at 5000 ISO, and you can barely notice any grain.

Note: I left the camera info on this time so you can see what I shot at.

And you shot that at pretty high shutter speed as well. Very nice. I can’t go above 1000 for stationary birds with my camera before it starts to get soft.
