Ruffed Grouse - A lifer. It’s becoming a lot harder for me to pick up lifers I’m the western US, but I got one today. I’ve tried many times for them, but never had any luck. Of course, when I’m not looking I stumble into one. ABA bird 564.

Testing my friends DSLR for me to get comfortable handling and using one for when I get one in the winter. I know it’s really outdated, but I still managed some decent shots. You can see what it is in the technical info at the bottom of the links.

This harrier wasn't following the social distancing guidelines!  I was watching a flock of about 50 cedar waxwings when she came thru and disturbed my watching and their hunting.  She didn't get one this time but she didn't fly to far away.

How are you identifying that vs Rufous? We are well within the time frame for fall Rufous migration currently

It is in my yard, and I know that this is the bird that I have constantly had all year.
