Birding Boy
At last! A decent perched hummingbird photo! This dude however is rather temperamental, and only lets me get within 20 feet of him when it’s half an hour before sunset....so I have to practice low shutterspeed shots to compensate. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/367801191

dragon49
These are a first for me. I've never seen a Tricolored Heron in these types of poses:

meghann
I shoot now with a superzoom Nikon when I bird, because I want the crazy zoom reach. The quality is nowhere near the glass I used to bring along. On my trek to the beach yesterday, I finally got a picture with it that's not bad. A peep!

roadcykler
On 9/7/2021 at 3:24 PM, dragon49 said: Not sure if forum etiquette requires me to disclose that I used the Auto Smart Fix feature of Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 to get the final product below. I've included the original as the second picture. If the program logic only corrected the lighting and contrast, I imagine the photo should still be pretty authentic. Please let me know if the final color saturation gives the Turkey Vulture a phony photoshopped look: IMO, no it doesn't. You're only altering for brightness or maybe contrast. If you made the head redder or greened up the foliage that would be different. As a decidedly non-professional photographer, some of my pictures don't look that great out of the camera so I too adjust the lighting via Elements. Besides, it's not like you're submitting it to some contest. Keep doing what you're doing. Edited September 10, 2021 by roadcykler

Appreciate the feedback - I'm having a ton of fun sharing pictures here. 🙂 Edited September 10, 2021 by dragon49
