smskelton
I wanted to share a photo I took in the Catalina's after the Bighorn fire. First snowfall and a Golden Eagle soaring out of the clouds.

In any event, not even sure whether the bird ate the creature, as while I was watching, it seemed like it didn't know what to do with it. It either dropped it a few times, or threw it out of its mouth, and then kept picking it up. Don't remember whether the bird walked out of my viewing range, or I just got bored and didn't wait out the conclusion.   Snake

smskelton
We were visited by Black Necked Stilts in the Oregon Cascades this summer. The first time we have ever seen them in the Central Cascades.

I'm new to this site and originally posted questions about the identification of several birds. I don't know what the "Birdscapes" thread refers to. I can tell you the rest of the story about the Golden Eagle shot. I originally hiked up to the base of Alamo Canyon in Catalina State Park to get some landscape pictures with my full frame Nikon with a 28-300 lens. Not my birding camera. As I looked over the canyon I saw this bird drop out of the clouds at the top of the canyon. It started soaring and looked like it was coming down canyon.  I looked out to the west and saw a storm system coming my way over Oro Valley with heavy rain. I knew that if I waited for the bird to get down to where I could take the picture I would have to make it more than a mile back to the car and would most likely get pounded by rain. I decided to wait. After I took several shots I tucked my camera inside my jacket and ran down the trail with my Golden Retriever following me wondering why we were running. I didn't make it, but the camera stayed dry and it was worth getting wet. It is the only Golden Eagle I have ever seen on the west side of the Catalina Mountains.

This is the Birdscape thread. It's basically just landscape photos with birds in them.
