Share Your Best Photo of the Day

Message added by aveschapinas,

Folks: it's not OK to take other people's photos to edit and re-post. Just like we don't correct each other's spelling and grammar, we don't take it upon ourselves to decide that someone's photo needs correction. In addition, as has been emphasized before, you need to respect copyright.

@Kevin, why does the quality look sharper on whatbird than the link? Zoom in and that’s the case……weird.

Ebird compresses images too when they’re displayed in the Macaulay library. When you drag and drop the image into the new tab that’s extracting the actual full sized/raw/uncompressed photo that’s stored in the servers.
Which is why there’s an option to “download original”.
At least that’s how I understand it.

Thanks. When I hit download original, it still doesn’t look right.

it only looks right when you embed it from here, as you said

They look the same quality to me ??‍♂️
Adding the image through the URL just makes it so this website doesn’t have to download it, convert it, and store it. So the actual image itself is being stored on eBird (which is the original image) and not here, even though it is displayed here. Which is why it avoids whatbirds compression and doesn’t take up as much space as adding images ‘the old way’.

At least I think that’s how it works… maybe I’m making this up ?.

Maybe @Charlie Spencer knows

I’m on an iPad, so maybe it’s different.
