Very nice! I find it quite hard to get close for a good shot of these guys in my experience.

We were hiking  Sonoita Creek above Patagonia Lake in southern Arizona when this Green Heron flew off the creek and landed up in a tree in the forest about 20 feet off the ground.

Welcome home! I hope you had a good time in Florida! I see you got a Limpkin. Woot woot! They are no longer endangered but they are not everywhere like some of the wading and shorebirds. NIce Boat-tailed Grackle photos.

There are five pictures here.  They were taken at the upper end of Patagonia Lake in Southern Arizona with a 500mm lens, at f 5.6, 1/3200 sec, ISO 640, from about 185 feet away.  Total time elapsed from start to finish was 1/2 second for the five shots.  I seems like a moment in the life of a bird that is 1/2 second long should be one picture, but modern cameras have changed the dynamics.  When I think of this Green Heron landing, I see it as one event.
