dragon49
More Nanday Parakeets on the way. 🙂 I also had the good fortune to watch the flock fly over to the wire to perch. This cleared up some frustration, as I see these birds in flight all of the time, but crappy lighting conditions have always hidden the colors and I had no idea what they were as I hadn't been able to capture any pics. Now that I know the flighted wing pattern and shape of the birds, I'll be getting more IDs. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/425519361

Birding Boy
I'm very happy to have gotten a few decent Pine Siskin Photos last week! Usually I don't see them at or below eye level. https://ebird.org/checklist/S104556887 Edited March 17 by Birding Boy

I’ve done it with HOFI in my yard and the WCSP, but siskin….
IKLland
From last week. Not sure which I like best, so I’m posting both. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/425915981 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/425915921

Yeah, I’ve had one up there for a while, but usually chickadees just use it. So it was pretty awesome to have these guys land 10 feet away from me in decent lighting....

I like a photo where the eyes of a bird are clearly visible. But on birds with dark heads like Magpies that can easier said than done. You got this ones eyes nicely.

Good point. Even discounting the eyes, the high contrast of the black/white feathers also makes it difficult. Most of my shots of magpies lose detail, if not in the whites then in the blacks. It's rare for me to get one where lighting is just right to give an acceptable balance.
