Here’s a tip. When framing, don’t cut off the tail. It makes the bird look amputated. Awesome shot though! Headshots are different, though. If it’s just a headshot, it’s fine. But if the whole bird is there except for one thing, it’s annoying.

@Birding Boy @BirdNrdI figured it out. You can still do it by dragging the file on a computer, but on a phone or ipad you can't embedd anymore.

I agree with you. But at 400 it wasn’t possible to get the full bird in the frame. Too close.

It looks to me like the tail was cut off by being on the other side of the feeder platform, not from cropping.

In this case, I would crop in for more of a headshot.

Ummm, at 400mm you could have reduced the zoom to 300mm, or less, couldn't you? ? I know, I know, I tend to forget that my zoom lens has a short end too. ?

I think we all know that type of situation all too well. Sometimes we have to take what we get, which in this case is still a nice photo. ?

You’re absolutely right though. I tend to shoot at 400 almost all the time, often forgetting or ignoring that there are shorter options.
